At Socks & Sandals, your privacy is as important to us as properly pairing your socks — and we take both rather seriously (well, mostly). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what happens when we inevitably forget where we put it.

We don’t go out of our way to collect anything too fancy — but like a stray sock, data tends to turn up where you least expect it.

We may collect:

• Names and email addresses, if you choose to give them to us (usually to receive updates, RSVP to events, or complain about our fashion choices).
   
• Website usage info, through the occasional cookie or analytics tool, purely to marvel at how many people actually visit this nonsense.
   
• Any other details you willingly submit — such as comments, jokes, or unsolicited sock photos (please don’t).
   

We use your information responsibly — which in our case means:

• Keeping track of who’s coming to events (so we know how much chicken pie to make).
   
• Sending out important updates (like AGM reminders or lost sandal alerts).
   
• Improving our website so it loads faster than your mate putting socks on before sandals.
   

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information for money, fame, or new footwear. Ever.

Yes, we use cookies — the digital kind, not the chocolate chip sort (sadly).

These little data crumbs help our website remember things like whether you’ve already seen the same bad joke twice. You can disable cookies in your browser settings if you prefer to browse in privacy and darkness, like a lone sock under the bed.

We only share your information with:

• Trusted third parties, such as web hosts and analytics tools (they’re contractually obligated to respect both GDPR and open-toe footwear).
   
• Other Socks & Sandals members, but only when necessary — for example, to coordinate events or find out who left their sandals in the fridge.
   

We will not, under any circumstances, sell your data to anyone offering “revolutionary sock subscription services.”

We’ll keep your information for as long as it’s needed for our purposes — or until we forget what we were doing and delete it by accident. Whichever comes first.

As a citizen of the modern world (and possibly the UK), you have rights over your data:

• You can request a copy of what we hold.
   
• You can ask us to delete it.
   
• You can unsubscribe at any time.
   

We’ll respond promptly — right after we’ve found matching socks.

We take security seriously. All data is kept behind metaphorical (and occasionally literal) firewalls, protected by passwords stronger than the scent of wet trainers after a summer walk.

However, no system is completely foolproof. If hackers ever break in, we’ll notify you as soon as we’ve stopped crying.

We may update this policy occasionally — perhaps after a particularly inspiring AGM — so check back now and then. Any changes will be announced in the most professional manner possible (likely via group chat).
